NEW JERSEY — New Jersey is considering making it a crime for a man to date a woman.

The state Assembly approved a bill Thursday that would add rape and sexual assault to the list of crimes punishable by up to three years in prison.

A separate bill would add indecent liberties to the state’s criminal code.

The legislation, which will now go to Gov.

Chris Christie’s desk, was authored by Assemblywoman Margaret O’Donnell, a Democrat.

It is expected to be sent to the governor’s desk next week.
