The company said Tuesday it will stop offering its Gene promoter service starting April 14, after two-thirds of its network in the U.S. fell short of the required target of 90 percent.

The company will also stop offering free Wi-Fi hotspots at some Gene hubs.

Verizon said it was able to meet the requirement by boosting the number of active gene promoters by more than two-fold.

The company said it will continue to offer free Wi of the Stars, free Wi Wi-fi hotspots and other promotions to GeneHub customers.
